Are the InteractiveVisual3D objects able to throw Shadows in a 3D scene? I tried it but wasn't able to get the effect. Any plans to provide this in the near future?

Unfortunately, no, the InteractiveVisual3D objects don't throw shadows in a 3D scene. This is true of all WPF 3D objects as well. Depending on what level of an effect you want, you can probably fake the shadows by placing a material on a 3D object, or creating a new 3D object to represent the shadow. How to do shadows is a pretty interesting topic in computer graphics, so if you're interested in them, I'd recommend doing some searches for more info. Or I can go find some links if you want too.

You might want to check Charles Petzold's blog http://www.charlespetzold.com/blog/blog.xml as I think he is in the progress of experimenting with different shadow techniques for his new book.
