Sphere/cone/cyl mesh generation, why not add support?

I'd like to point my students to utilities that supplant core WPF-3D with features like mesh generation for common curved surfs like sphere, cone, cylinder.
Basically I'm trying to make the point that WPF-3D has -- or will soon have -- an equivalent to GLUT, i.e. a library adding lots of convenience functions atop the core functionality.

I was hoping that this project (3DTools) would meet that goal, but I really want something with curved-surf approx support.

I see that in the latest version of 3DTools, that functionality is present in a sample application ("InteractiveViewport3DSample") but not in the
3DTools library itself. Are there plans to bring curved-surface tesselation support into 3DTools "proper" ?

There's a good Microsoft Press book "3D Programming For Windows" by Charles Petzold that supplies such a library. It's downloadable from {url:http://www.charlespetzold.com/3d}, although licence to use the library commercially only comes if you purchase the book.
