How can I rotate model instead of the camera

I actually want to create a trackball control that rotates itself and another model.  If I had this I would use it in a window that contained the model of something of interest (model of the human heart, for example) AND a model of a sphere which would act as the track ball.  So right-clicking the trackball would cause both the trackball and the model in tandam.  So I want the view of the heart to keep its same camera orientation and have the transform applied to the target model and trackball model.  How would I do this?
